RC&M is independent, in writing.

Most "free" monitoring advice is paid for by someone. Usually it's the vendor. That's why I put my independence in writing and hold myself to it.

  1. No commissions or referral fees. I accept no commissions, referral fees, finder's fees, reseller margins, rebates, or gifts of value from any monitoring hardware, software, or service provider. My only income from your project is the fee you pay me.
  2. You own your data. Every waveform, spectrum, trend, report, and finding I produce or touch belongs to you. My contracts say so. When we stop working together, you keep all of it, in a usable format.
  3. Open by default. Wherever it fits, I recommend open, standards-based hardware and platforms that let you export your data and switch providers. Lock-in is a cost, and I'll show it to you.
  4. Full disclosure. If I've ever had a relationship with a vendor under consideration, such as past employment, training, or a speaking event, I'll tell you before we start. If a conflict can't be managed, I'll step aside.
  5. Recommendations based on fit. I recommend what fits your plant, your team, and your budget. Sometimes that's a premium platform. Sometimes it's open sensors and a spreadsheet. Sometimes it's "you don't need this yet."
  6. Building your capability. My goal is a program that runs without depending on anyone, including me. Training and documentation are part of the work.
